Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and chronic stress. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE is based on the understanding that trauma is not just a psychological experience—it also lives in the body.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, which focuses primarily on thoughts and emotions, Somatic Experiencing works gently with the nervous system to help restore balance, release trauma-related tension, and support the body’s natural ability to heal.
How Somatic Experiencing Works
Trauma can overwhelm the nervous system, leaving the body in a prolonged state of fight, flight, or freeze. Over time, this can lead to symptoms like anxiety, chronic tension, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, or a feeling of being “stuck.”
In Somatic Experiencing, we slow down and attune to the body’s subtle signals—tracking sensations, breath, movement, and internal responses. Through this process, we begin to discharge unresolved survival energy and support the body in completing what it couldn’t during the original overwhelming experience.
This work is gentle, titrated, and client-centered, meaning we go at your pace and focus on building safety and resilience first.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that helps people heal from the emotional and physiological effects of trauma. It is recognized by organizations such as the American Psychological Association and the World Health Organization as an effective treatment for PTSD and other trauma-related conditions.
At its core, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming or stuck. Rather than focusing on talking through the traumatic experience in detail, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, sounds, or tapping) to support the brain’s natural healing process.
How EMDR Works
Trauma can disrupt the brain’s ability to process experiences normally, leaving painful memories "frozen in time." These unprocessed memories can continue to cause distress in the form of flashbacks, anxiety, emotional reactivity, or negative self-beliefs.
During EMDR therapy, we identify a specific memory or issue that feels unresolved. Through a structured, 8-phase approach—including preparation, resourcing, and reprocessing—we activate the brain's natural ability to integrate and heal. The memory becomes less charged, and your emotional response shifts in a meaningful and lasting way.

IFS Therapy
Healing Begins Within
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps individuals heal emotional wounds by exploring the different “parts” of themselves. Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, IFS is based on the understanding that we all have an internal system made up of different parts—each with its own voice, emotion, and purpose.
IFS offers a compassionate and non-pathologizing way to understand the complexity of human experience. It’s especially effective for trauma, as it gently guides us toward inner harmony without retraumatization.
What Is IFS Therapy?
Rather than seeing symptoms or behaviors as problems to eliminate, IFS views them as protective responses—parts of us that developed to help us survive pain, trauma, or neglect. These parts may take on roles such as the inner critic, the people-pleaser, the avoider, or the perfectionist.

Understand their intentions and fears
Build a relationship with them from the perspective of the core Self—the calm, compassionate, centered aspect within all of us
